Temporary Resident Permit

A Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that allows a foreign national to enter or remain in Canada temporarily, despite not meeting the requirements for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or other type of visa.

A TRP may be issued for a variety of reasons, such as:
1.    Medical reasons: If you have a medical condition that requires treatment in Canada, you may be able to apply for a TRP to allow you to receive the necessary treatment.
2.    Humanitarian and compassionate reasons: If you have compelling humanitarian or compassionate circumstances that justify allowing you to enter or remain in Canada, you may be able to apply for a TRP.
3.    Temporary resident exemptions: If you are a foreign national who is exempt from the requirement to obtain a TRV, but you still need to travel to Canada, you may be able to apply for a TRP to confirm your temporary resident status.

To apply for a TRP, you will need to complete an online application form and submit it to IRCC, along with supporting documents such as a passport, proof of financial support, and any other documents that may be required to support your application. You may also need to provide biometric information, such as fingerprints and a photograph.

The length of time that a TRP is valid for depends on the reason for which it was issued. In general, a TRP is valid for a specific period of time, and you will need to leave Canada before it expires. If you want to stay in Canada longer or change the purpose of your visit, you may need to apply for an extension or a different type of visa.
