Restoration of Status

If your temporary resident status in Canada has been lost or has expired, you may be able to apply for restoration of status to regain your temporary resident status.

To be eligible for restoration of status, you must meet certain requirements, such as:
1.    Having a valid passport
2.    Having a valid temporary resident visa, study permit, or work permit at the time you lost your status (if applicable)
3.    Not having any inadmissibility issues that would prevent you from returning to Canada
4.    Having a valid reason for why you lost your status (e.g. you forgot to renew your study permit on time)
5.    Having a valid reason for why you want to restore your status (e.g. you have a job or a family in Canada)

The length of time that a restoration of status is granted for depends on the circumstances of your case and the information provided in your application. If your application is approved, you will receive a document confirming your restored temporary resident status in Canada. It's important to note that a restoration of status does not guarantee permanent residence in Canada. If you want to apply for permanent residence, you will need to meet the eligibility requirements and apply through the appropriate program
