PR Card Application and Renewal
A Permanent Resident (PR) Card is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that confirms your status as a permanent resident of Canada. As a permanent resident, you have the right to live, work, and study in Canada on a permanent basis.
To be eligible for a PR Card, you must be a permanent resident of Canada and meet certain other requirements, such as:
1. Having a valid passport
2. Having a valid permanent resident visa
3. Having lived in Canada for at least 730 days during the five years immediately preceding the date of your application
If you already have a PR Card and it is about to expire, you can apply to renew it. To renew your PR Card, you will need to complete an online application form and submit it to IRCC, along with supporting documents such as a passport, proof of your permanent resident status, and any other documents that may be required to support your application. You may also need to provide biometric information, such as fingerprints and a photograph.
It's important to apply for a PR Card or a renewal well in advance of the expiration of your current PR Card, as processing times can vary. If your application is approved, you will receive a new PR Card that will be valid for a specific period of time.
