Post-Graduation Work Permit
The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is a type of work permit that allows international students who have graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada to work in Canada for up to three years after completing their studies. The PGWP is designed to help international students gain Canadian work experience and potentially transition to permanent residency in Canada.
To be eligible for a PGWP, you must:
• Have completed a program of study at a DLI in Canada that is at least eight months in duration and leads to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
• Have a valid study permit when you apply for the PGWP.
• Have maintained full-time status as a student during your studies in Canada, unless you are completing the final academic semester or term of your program, in which case you may be eligible even if you are not a full-time student.
• Have graduated from an eligible program.
• Apply for the PGWP within 180 days of receiving written confirmation (such as a transcript or an official letter) from your DLI that you have met the requirements for completing your program of study.
To apply for a PGWP, you will need to gather all the necessary documents and information, including:
• A copy of your written confirmation of program completion
• A copy of your study permit
• Proof of your identity (such as a passport or national identification card)
It's important to note that the process of applying for a PGWP can take several weeks or months to complete.
